MONDAYS SUCK!
Once upon a time I hated Sunday more than any other day of the week. Getting dragged off to church was absolute, sheer, cruel and unusual torture...
this picture pretty much sums it up...

Of course once I entered the workaday 9 to 5 world I switched to hating Mondays.
The song Friday On My Mind by The Easybeats (I prefer the Bowie/Pinups version) summed up my general disposition at the start of every week ...

"Monday morning feels so bad,
Ev'rybody seems to nag me
Coming tuesday I feel better,
Even my old man looks good,
Wednesday just don't go,
Thursday goes too slow,
I've got Friday on my mind"

"Do the five day drag once more,
Know of nothing else that bugs me
More than working for the rich man,
Hey I'll change that scene one day,
Today I might be mad,
Tomorrow I'll be glad,
I've got Friday on my mind"

That being said now that I am past the halfway mark I realise that none of us can afford to wish away or waste one single day of our lives.

So from now on I will refuse to allow the enormity of the guaranteed catastrophic global destruction of our planet and the accelerated systematic eradication of our species bother me on Monday Morning.

I'm changing my point of view.

... pffft!
Why on Earth should I worry about all of this other nonsense if nobody else is..
AS IF the world is going to hell in a !

  1. Pardon me, HomE, but I will still reserve the right to hate mondays.

  2. Well, hate to be a Monday morning quarterback, but there's also this by the Mamas and Papas:

Monday Monday, so good to me,
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Monday Monday, can't trust that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how yould cou leave and not take me.

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time...

    ---

Now that I actually see the lyrics in front of me...who did that song, "I don't like Mondays?"

  4. I love Monday Monday - well, most anything by the Mamas & the Papas.

When I was in high school we had a computer in the Yearbook office (brand-new technology...wooooo we were so awed by this Mac), anyway - one of my fellow students set it up to boot with the full opening music to that song, and then...

    Tuesday Tuesday...

HA! It was hilarious when anyone else logged on and didn't know it was rigged.

=) And yes, it will be a faboo day!

I get monday morning blues! But I am ok after noon. I just snap out of it. On Saturdays (we have school on sat too), after school, I feel so happy.

And as far the world is concerned, I feel so sad about the way my own country is going about. Too many kids being kidnapped and then killed.

  7. tidal grrrl,
California Dreamin' must be one of the best songs ever conceived..it is absolutely perfect..and the Canadian 'feller what sang it'Denny Lane just passed away this week.

    gautami,
    School on SATURDAY!! WTH!?
Well that is the first thing that you must amend...are they open 12 months of the year like Japan?

    laura e,
I concur. The best remedy for that is to befriend a Billionaire like Oprah's buddy Gale King...I'd say that she is even smarter than Oprah.

Here's another Monday song - Manic Monday, by a girlie band called,I think, Bangles. Local kids played it incessantly.
Your omen-crow needs to visit you again.A little introspection and you'll bounce back, happy and cheeky once more!

For me, everyday that you have to get up at the crack of dawn sucks, even if it's not Monday.

I only like Mondays when I'm on vacation.

  15. stace,
    and there is no reason
    'cause there are no reasons..
remember when that came out..years before Columbine...
now school shootings aren't even as shocking as they should be..
which is very scary and pathetic.

    Aidan,
    Auztriilyer Diy!
Crikey! Well toss a few back fer your mates in Canader and throw a bucket of shrimp on the barbie!
The public should be banned from appearing in public on Monday.

    keshiroo,
Movin'??? To get away from your feller? Are you entering the witness relocation program...will your new blog be ...

    Kishee @ Vavavavoom Forever!

    andrea,
Yes dammit. Fortunately our brains do not allow that to happen and we constantly screw up and wastes thousands of hours of our lives every year...there are 8,760 hour in a year so we waste about 7,860.

    aidan,
    Beer?! in Australia?! since when?

    ces,
Oh NO! Am I channeling or what?
I tell ya I am going to put that guy that talks to everybody's dead relatives out of business. Blue Monday eh...who knew.

    dinahmow,
Yes indeed I have it right here..
    just another Manic Monday,
that's my fun-day. It is weird that you should say that because the Omen Crow was out fluttering about on our way home from school..he may have followed me there but I hadn't had enough coffee so I wouldn't have noticed...I'll be cheeky tomorrow...wasn't this cheeky?
OMEN CROW COME AND SAVE YOUR LOYAL SUBJECT!!!

    menchie,
I like getting up at the crack of dawn in the summer (5:45ish) but in the winter the sun comes up around 8:45ish and that's with daylight savings time!
When you're on Holidays don't you just sleep in?

Since I don't work a nine-to-five, Monday thru Friday work schedule, Mondays are like any other day, and weekends have no special significance.

Since short people can't become Emperor anymore, I won't be able to save the world, and nobody else has the balls to just DO it, I'm with you; why worry?

Having accepted the inevitable, that mankind will accomplish essentially the same thing a meteor usually does, I guess I will have to be happy chronicling the last days so that future cock-roach archeologists can dig up the server with my blog on it and know that at least one of us knew what the hell was going to happen, and wasn't exactly happy about it. No, we did not go quietly into that dark night, we were dragged into it kicking and screaming by Dick Cheney and his band of merry asswipes.

  18. Donn, I have a feeling you have fun every day of the week. Your enthusiasm and outlook on life draws people in.

I'd much rather spend my Mondays with someone who lifts me up and vise versa.

How odd, I like weekdays better (unless I'm at my dad's or with my son). What does that say about me?

  21. It's gonna be a long Monday
Sittin' all alone on a mountain
By a river that has no end
It's gonna be a long Monday
Stuck like the tick of a clock
    That's come unwound - again
    And again

    And that's all she wrote.

  23. You know what? You're so right...why not do like so many others who have extremely small genitalia and just go out and buy yourself a Hummer (not a blow-job, but the SUV) and somehow, the environment will just take care of itself...ESPECIALLY on a Monday. Don't you agree? I thought that you would...
