VOTE EARLY & VOTE OFTEN!

Monster by STEPPENWOLF 1970

"And though the past has it's share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey

The spirit was freedom and justice
And it's keepers seem generous and kind
It's leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind
'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
And now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told

Yeah, there's a monster on the loose

It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watchin'
Our cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand
We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner
We can't pay the cost
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watching

America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster"

Congratulations #44!

  1. I certainly hope so!

And the first town to vote in the US just after midnight, Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, pop. 75, has just finished it's vote.

100% of it's registered voters lined up and voted after midnight. In five minutes, it was official. Of all the 21 votes cast, Barack Obama wins 15 to John McCain, 6!

I hope it's the start of a voting trend!

  5. Was listening to some tunes from the 60s/early 70s the other day and it does sadly show that some of the lessons still aren't learned.

I voted as Minnie Mouse and Susanne today. =P

As far as the fate of our country, I'm confident that wisdom and change will prevail.

  8. Lord Tennisanyone's big brain cannot be contained!

He's going to need bigger feet to support that head.

I think there's a coupon for just such an enhancement product in my spam box.

Okay, I get the VOTE EARLY part...but not the VOTE OFTEN so much. I believe you only get one vote per election, that is unless you have multiple personalities.

YAY!!! No more stupid political ads!!! WHEEEEE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Right, I didn't get the VOTE OFTEN either -it's illegal to do that on the same election, Donn-. You coul probably do that anyway with a little help from your slo-mo-escapeons slide show, hahaha and i bet you wouldnt get caught!-

Anyway... good luck to those who are voting today and also to those who are not!

BTW, old stuff probably, but i have to tell you: I just noticed your copyright message to Angeliki (at right) and it really made me laugh. ;). Well donw.

  12. Donno u were with Obama too! awwww...I hv the hots for him ya know. But when u 2 r toghether, I'd def choose Donn! ;-)

Change comes from within...starts with each individual, not with the world. If ppl can see that and start changing themselves first, then we dun hv to rely soully on a new leader for CHANGE to come.

    *HUGZ* go Obama! :)

Obama's speech was incredible. I hope that we find a comparable leader up here in the great white north. He has some huge obstacles to undo (thanks to Dubya)but his team is so organised..apparently they had a transition plan ready one year ago!

    GEOFF
    Good one!
    Que Sarah Sarah
    whatever will be will be

    SCRATCHY
You got it! Now your secret service will have to do their best to protect him from the redneck asshat with three names (they always have three names) who wants to git in them thar hiztree buks

    GHOSTY
When's the wedding? My legal team is drafting a suitable list of concessions for her to sign and we'll take it from there.

    SUSANNITY
All those songs about Peace, Love & Unicorns fell on deaf ears for half of the Baby Boomers. Thank goodness that Generation Next is giving them a spin.

Hi! Your instincts were right..ever noticed that there is no such thing as male intuition?
Now, onwards and upwards. Welcome to the 21st Century.

    ALLAN
To be honest I thought that McCain would squeak by until the Market imploded. That made the Economy a bigger issue than the Foreign Policy blunders...otherwise the fear of change might have prevailed.

    MJ
Are you implying that Lord Tennisanyone has small feet and that he needs an enhancement?
Besides, those procedures can only add about an inch..hardly worth it?

    GAUTAMI
Thank You for dropping by. I am receptive to re-opening a dialogue with members of your entourage but remain apprehensive about being your whipping boy. A little sycophantic lavish praise would go a long way right about now.
    *taps foot

    RANDOM CHICK
Hear Hear! That Election started about 3 years ago! Honestly, do your citizens really need to waste all of that time, energy and money?
    Come on!

  23. LENI
Do you think that she'll ever see it?
I know that you can't vote twice..unless of course you are a registered voter in Hanging Chad, Florida? I'm glad that the US fixed their voting apparatus...I haven't seen any recounts.

    KESHIROO
Aw shucks..perhaps you could give Gautami a few pointers on finding the way to a man's heart?

I agree that we need to get people to change themselves..although the Government is very good at doing that for them.

    KATHERINE
We already had it! Our elections only last a month and it didn't do much for anyone...I did say elections didn't I? It sounded like I was talking about something else.

    ANGELA
I don't mind admitting that I teared up listening to Obama's acceptance speech. He is the real New Deal!

I also realised how well the guy on SNL imitates him..those..pauses..after every..sentence..very..dramatic.

    WHITESNAKE
There, there. They wouldn't let me vote either. Apparently you need to be an American citizen...sheesh..talk about being fussy.

Yes my little Manchurian Candidate..I want you to stare at the images..now listen carefully..I made need you to do something for me in the near future...when you hear me say "Rosebud" you'll know what to do.

    That is all.

    MJ
What are you WooHooing about? Don't tell me..no..come on..not while you're blogging?
Seriously? Hmm...better than trying to remember the starting lineup for the 76 Mets.

    GILLETTE
I hope that you appreciate how excited the rest of the world is to have the US adjusting it's zeitgeist. Eight years is a long time to have the rest of the world scared or pissed off at your country.

    CAZZIE
No kidding eh? What a huge relief?
Maybe we need to thank Dubya for screwing everything up so badly..now that is a Catch 22?

    GHOSTY
Great Day in the Morning! Now, how are you gonna fix your country?
I thought so...just come on over.

    CITIZEN MONDO
I'll bet that you're doing the Snoopy Dance! That is the happiest dance in the world isn't it?

I wonder if...Canada had a snap election, would Mr. Harper still be returned?
And now it's the turn of my tiny country to "change horses."
